Making the most of family time during lockdown, Jamie Coreth has produced this wonderful photograph at his home in Wiltshire.

As part of a competition, run by the National Portrait Gallery and inspired by Cecil Beaton’s photography, contestants were asked for portraits inspired by the following themes: costume and masquerade; fashion; props, performance and self-portraiture.

Out of over 1,000 entries, we are delighted to announce that Jamie’s photograph was chosen as the winner of the 25 and over category, with the judge Tim Walker (contemporary photographer) stating:

It’s very difficult to do group pictures well. Beaton was so good at it because he photographed people who naturally gathered together. His friends. Nothing was forced. The group in Jamie Coreth’s picture have that ease of a family of friends and reminds me of the importance of kinship when photographing a group.

Alongside his painting “Portrait of Fatima”, Jamie Coreth has really been the star of the National Portrait Gallery.
