Artist Biography

Gareth Reid is a renowned Belfast-born and Glasgow-based portrait artist, celebrated for his ability to capture a strong sense of presence. A graduate of both the Glasgow School of Art and the Florence Academy of Art, Reid has exhibited at the BP Portrait Award on five occasions and gained widespread recognition after winning Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year in 2017, later being named Portrait Artist of the Decade in 2023. His commissioned works include portraits of HRH The Prince of Wales for Historic Royal Palaces, Graham Norton for the National Gallery of Ireland, and Billy Connolly for the Royal Bank of Scotland, with his work held in collections including the National Portrait Gallery, The Old Bailey, and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
